I have been having some discomfort and cramping in my abdomn area for the past couple months and over the last month or so I niticed my feet have been hurting when I stand. I looked up the reflexology chart and according to it, it is my small intestine.

I question is, would massaging that area of the foot help or hinder? Or does it really matter?

  1. It all depends on what chart you've looked at as to whether it's even accurate. There are many charts out there that are of absolutely no use. That being said, if it IS in fact your small intestine, the pain is probably stemming from a digestive issue, which you should probably get checked out. Digestive upsets can cause serious problems.

Massaging that area would be helpful, providing you massage in the proper direction (WITH the flow of the intestine, not against it). Again, you must make sure that the chart you consulted is accurate. Reflexology follows a set of rules, and if you don't know the rules, you can do damage. A reflexologist follows the body's natural flow when giving a session, if you don't know anatomy or the natural flow, don't self administer reflexology. Reflexologists also do not specifically treat an issue by focusing on one point alone, a session always includes the whole foot, not specific areas, which in turn balances the WHOLE body, not just a small part. Your abdominal pain probably has something to do with what you are eating, therefore can't be fixed by reflexology alone, you must address the cause, not just band-aid the problem.

  2. It could help to put pressure on that pressure point...when ever my feet heurt and i have a corresponding organ i then go to my acupuncturist wheo then give me chinese herbs to help my intestines do their thing and heal..you can find an acupunturist near you that does also practice herbal medicne by looking at this page and putting your zip in the acupunture finder at the bottom of the page..also the second page has a little info about the reflexology..heres to well being

  3. i would def give it a go  the reflexologist  may be able to advise you further  also mention it to your GP and   enjoy  reflexology  Sooooo  relaxing

  4. of course it will help, but it is always best to massage the entire foot (or even press firmly in as many places as possible) and make sure you do both feet, then pay extra attention the the intestine region. you can also try a golf ball to massage this area, and see what a difference it makes in a week

  5. Only one way to find out.

  6. Reflexology is a wonderful modality but should be applied by someone who is trained in it. If you need help finding a reflexologist this article may be helpful: http://reflexology.suite101.com/article....

I would recommend that you also look to moving up your annual physical with your primary care so he/she can find the source of your discomfort. It could be a blockage, a food allergy or any number of things.

  7. es, massaging the points on the foot will definitely help. The represents the microcosm of the body's acupuncture points.

this has frequently been used  on bed ridden patients who were in too much pain to have a body acupressure massage and also for coma patients and people who shy away from acupuncture and acupressure massage. Also, you can do it to yourself which is theraputic.

  8. A foot massage feels good.  However, massaging your foot won't help or hurt or make any difference at all in your abdominal pain.

Reflexology is nothing more than a glorified foot massage, as there is no proven connection between your feet and any other organ.  It is implausible and the opposite of the way the body actually works.

If you are having abdominal pain for 2 months, you should have that checked out by a properly trained professional...ie, NOT a reflexologist, acupuncturist, chiropractor etc.

  9. Yes, it will help and certainly won't hurt you.  However, the small intestine needs to be addressed in other ways also.  Check your diet as this is obvious.  No amount of reflexology will help you if you continue to put bad food into your body.

  10. you really ought to see a medical doctor. you aren't getting better over time it is getting serious...go see a doctor and tell them what is going on.
