Reformat my computer without drivers installer?

Question

I lost all the drivers on my desktop and I needed to reformat it and so I did and the only thing I am confused is that after finishing windows xp setup I didnt install any drivers but I am using it for 2 months now without encountering any problems except for its sound not working

Can you really use a computer without drivers installed?

Win XP is able to identify a wide variety of devices and does not need driver for them. In fact drivers are essential for those devices that can't be identified by you Windows (like sound card in your case).

For some things like sound card, video card,ethernet you need drivers.If you know what sound card you have-lets say AC97 ,you can look in the net or in your computer manufacturers site.
