Refridgerator/Freezer stopped cooling

Question

My Kenmore side by side Model SM4156358 quit cooling/freezing. The fans are blowing. Compressor fan is working. The compressor was hot. I turned the unit off overnight. Today the compressor is cool to the touch and I cannot hear or feel that it is working. Still not cooling. Coils are clear. All controls had been working and the indicator lights work properly.
The only fault indicated is the water filter which I have removed but not yet replaced.
