Helped a So. FL friend whose frig was running continuously. It was typical lack of cleaning maintenance; coils choked with dust, hair, etc. After a thorough cleaning, the unit cycles on/off. However, when cycling-off, there are several loud knocks or pings in the compressor area. It hums normally during cycling-on and while running.
