Question:

Refrigerator Squealing....?

My refrigerator just started squealing, almost like the sound that your car makes when the fan belt is slipping. Just wanted to know if this is something I can fix myself, or do I have to call a repairman? The sound is coming from the bottom somewhere. It stops sometimes, and then back to the squeal.

  1. The sound may be coming from the condenser fan motor, or if inside the evaporator fan motor. Both are easy to change if you know what you are doing.

  2. It might just be something stuck against the flan blade.  You'll probably need to pull it away from the wall to get behind it.

  3. The condenser fan is defective and not too difficult to replace for somebody handy.
