Question:

Refrigerator: Too Much Humidity?

Food does not keep well in my refrigerator (cut fruit, vegetables, meat [both cooked and uncooked], etc.) unless it is sealed air tight. This problem is starting to cost me money and I would be very appreciative of any help.

Is this a problem with moisture levels in my refrigerator?

Will decreasing the temperature help this?

What can I do to fix this problem besides buying a new one? Can anyone recommend a non-toxic, food-safe desiccant to absorb the moisture?

  1. there must be an air leak.

look around the door, find it, and fix it.

as for the temperature, you want it slightly higher than freezing.

any warmer, and food spoils faster.

(gee, that's what it's doing.  it would seem that colder would be better.)

i wouldn't put a desiccant in my frig.

i suppose you could try baking soda.

but that's hiding a problem that you should be trying to fix.
