Question:

Refrigerator / freezer ice maker?

The tube leading from the water supply is frozen. We know because it has happened once before. The refrigerator / freezer runs very cold. If I empty the food into an ice chest, and turn off the freezer, will the ice melt, and the unit begin to work?

  1. I use a turkey baster with a small tube attached to it (1/4 inch)to flush water in to it and thaw it out. It might take a while to do it by just letting it thaw.

A freezer too cold can do it. Also not enough water since the incoming warm water is supposed to melt or  flush out any ice droplets not letting them build up.

Fixing it permanently can be a pain. I have done a variety of things. They even make a heater for it as a last resort.

    Good Luck

  2. You might have to unplug her and leave the doors open for a day, then she will work fine when plugged back in.

Make sure you clean her up while she's empty.

That fill tube shouldn't freeze like that.

    Check for debris.

  4. You usually have disassemble the freezer in order to thaw the ice and then clear the drain with hot water.

  5. Yes, my friend has to do this occasionally!  She leaves the freezer door ajar for a little while and that does the trick.  Good luck!
