Question:

Refurbished Products?

Are refurbished products just as good as brand new never been touched before ones? I'm looking at a camera that's priced at $389.99 and $30 for shipping which is brand new and right underneath it there is the same one for $149.90 and free shipping only it's refurbished. So what exactly does referbished mean? All I know about referbished products is that nobody wants to buy them because they are defective or were broken and somebody fixed it, or does it just mean somebody used it and returned it?

  1. They are usually just as good. Ensure you have a warranty.

  2. Refurbished products were returned for whatever reason. From front/back focusing issues, lcd dead, whatever to just the fact that the product was returned because the buyer changed their mind.

It's suppose to be sent back to the manufacturer's repair center where the item is thoroughly looked over and brought up to spec.

In fact, this is why some people will buy refurbished items, since it's inspected so thoroughly.

Make sure it's a manufacturer refurb and not a store refurb

In fact the packaging will be different.

My XT came in a white Canon box w/refurbished on the side.

  3. from ebay i did purchased one refurbished digital photo camera.upon arrival MODE dial on the top(near thumb zoom switch found rotating very freely with out any clicking (u can feel tuk tuk tuk).Modes were changing  with just lightest touch.

As it was under 30 return /if defective policy, when I claimed that they refused saying that all the features are fully working it can not be taken back.

Another from ebAY was from Ritz Camera >The panasonic  handycam found all ok  but after few months i found cassete were not playableble on any other models nor  any friend's cassette will play on this model.

However rest other around 40 items are worhing ok.

So it is just a matter  of luck as most of them are repaired.

  4. Hello,

I would say if you are buying a refurbished camera from a reputable dealer like B&H, not to worry.  I don't know if I would trust one from Ebay or the like.  I have bought used cameras from B&H and other sites and never had a problem.  They offer a warranty and also an extended warranty if you want it.  A refurbished camera is one that has been used, traded in and reconditioned to resell.

  5. I have bought refurbished several times. I've never had a problem with them.  But, like previous post, make sure you have a warranty.  Even if it's just a 30 day warranty, that gives you the opportunity to check it out thoroughly.

    Go for it.....

  6. I've bought refurbished lenses from http://adorama.com and refurbished camera bodies from other companies in the past, they've all been excellent, I would not hesitate to buy refurbished again.
