Question:

Regal Empress Caribbean Cruise?

The 2 night cruise departing from Ft. Lauderdale to Nassau, Bahamas.

Have you been on it? If so, give me your review.

I have read mixed reviews about this cruise, however the most recent is one from November 2006. I've read really bad ones, some mediocre ones, and some pleasant ones. I know not to expect an extravagant cruise ship, because it is an old and smaller ship. I really want to start with a small trip for my frist cruise.

What rooms do you recommend? What are the best off-boat activities in Nassau? Anything else you want to suggest!

Thanks ahead of time for your imput!

  1. I would not go on a 2 night cruise.  It is too short.  Our first cruise was a 3 night to the Bahamas, and when we got home, one of the first things we did was start looking for a longer one.  If you want to try a small cruise, get a three or four day.  You will not get to experience the ship in 2 nights, and this is what it is all about to me.  I need at least five nights in the dining room to make it worth while.

I am not fond of Nassau.  Too manhy people are too pushy to try and get your money.

  2. I know Regal Empress offers an attractive price point (last I saw they were advertising fares starting at $99), but the experience you will have onboard is nothing like what you will have onboard a larger ship on a 3 day or longer itinerary.

Onboard Regal, you really do get what you pay for, and for $99 you're not paying for much...

If you're looking for a short cruise to dip your toes in the water I would suggest a 3 or 4 night sailing onboard Carnival or Royal Caribbean.  They would give you a much better idea of what it's like to take a modern cruise.  Carnival has sailings that start at $299 per person, heck you can find 7 night sailings on Carnival that start at $599...

  3. DO NOT FALL INTO THIS REGAL EMPRESS CRUISE.  THIS IS THE WORST CRUISE EVER!!!!

    Just try something else
