Regal Realm has a lot to offer in Greene King Supreme Stakes at Goodwood
Regal Realm’s recent Group 3 success at Goodwood suggests that she has plenty to offer in the Greene King Supreme Stakes, to be held on Sunday, August 26th. The 7-furlong meeting is going to be kicked off at 15:20 GMT.
Regal Realm was terrible on her seasonal debut in April. In the Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes, Jeremy Noseda’s trainee could only seize the second last spot after a poor start. She took a break of more than three months before returning to action at Goodwood at the start of this month.
The Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes saw her making a wonderful effort in the hands of Ryan Moore. She held up towards rear, but made smooth progress to reach the front row.
A strong run inside the final furlong helped her lead in the last 50 yards. The 10-1 chance retained her advantage to notch up the first rank by three quarters of a length.
Owned by Cheveley Park Stud, the daughter of Medicean has an amazing track record at Goodwood, as she was triumphant in both of her appearances here. There are plenty of powerful horses in the crew, but ignoring Regal Realm after her outstanding triumph will be an unwise move.
The Cheka is a well-established performer at the graded level, and should go well with this drop in class. The 6-year-old has been performing consistently since the outset of this season.
He was runner-up in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket before ending up third in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville. Confidence is not going to be an issue for him.
Zumbi will be another to watch out for. Although his storming finish was not enough to earn him success in the Baden-racing.com Handicap at Newmarket, it suggested that he can do the trick at this level.
The Cheka and Zumbi are certainly two dangerous runners, and would not allow anyone to grab an easy victory. Yet, Regal Realm should not be taken lightly after her splendid Group 3 victory. An exciting battle is on the cards. We wish the best of luck to all the runners.
