Regally Ready to bounce back in the $100,000 Troy Stakes at Saratoga
Regally Ready will aim to land a victory for his trainer, Steven Asmussen, in the $100,000 Troy Stakes at Saratoga on 15th August, 2012, over a distance of 5 ½ furlongs.
The five-year-old gelding has experienced his fair share of success, when he claimed the Grade 2 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs last year, over five furlongs.
After that majestic victory, he failed to gain that winning momentum as he finished 13th in a Conditions Race and 14th in the Grade 1 Al Quoz Sprint, both these races were held at the Meydan.
The son of More Than Ready has competed in four starts this year, and failed to fire in all four, but now is his chance to really step it up and bring his best to the track.
Regarding the older division runner, Asmussen told the press:
“He hasn’t done any good this year.”
The trainer hopes that he will finally show what he can do on the track and this race will give Regally Ready the chance to get back on winning ways.
“Hopefully this is the right spot to get him back on track and get his confidence back. He’s always been a little quirky about things, so maybe the chance to get him settled in here over a long period of time will make all the difference.”
Foaled by King Of Kings mare Kivi, Regally Ready has competed in 21 starts, and secured 9 victories, finished twice as a runner-up and five times in third place.
The son of More Than Ready, will be going up against some tough runners, as Saginaw, Bridgetown are the two he will have to keep a close eye on.
Owned by the Vinery Stables, the runner claimed a Grade 1 victory in the Nearctic Stakes at Woodbine in October, 2011.
So far, he only has one Grade 1 race to his name, but he claimed the Grade 3 San Simeon Handicap and the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes.
If the runner manages to get his act together and gets back on his feet, he will be the one to beat in this race.
