Regarding 2008 honda accord, what is specified motor oil, 5w20, 5w30, 5w40

please, i know this info is in owners manual and on oil fill cap, but obviously i don't have either, thanks

  1. 520 will maximize your fuel economy, and minimize engine wear.  


  2. If it were me I would choose the 5w30 - this is a "middle of the road" oil which will cover both summer & winter.

  3. 5w40 would be fine. The first figure (5w) is the cold starting viscosity which ensures the oil gets to moving parts quickly. The second figure (40) is the viscosity at full temperature. Therefor 40 is less likely to break down than 30 and so gives greater engine protection.

    Use semi synthetic, or better still fully synthetic, even to top up, as these oils are vastly superior to the old natural oils.

  5. Mark, Your car manufacturer recommends 5W-20.
