it goes back some 3000 years.

It also comes from Brittany in France, as well as Scotland and Wales and parts of Cornwall in England. It is NOT exclusive to Ireland.

There really isn't any such thing as just "Celtic music".  There is music that originated in places like Ireland, Wales, Scotland or Brittany, which are the regions in which Celtic languages are spoken.  If you're just wondering about Irish music, then you should read the book "A history of Irish music" by W.H.
