  1. The HDTV market is currently profiting from many High Definition technologies.  This includes DLP, however DLP is primarily used in projectors.  It provides image quality superior to LCD-based projectors and is currently the best option.  While DLP is quite popular, it is not practical for small-scale home use.  LCD and OLED technologies are more beneficial for this purpose.  DLP is also used in Rear-Projection TVs.

  2. DLP is good if used in a darker room where the audience will be sitting in FRONT of the TV. DLP also has the best size-per-dollar performance.

  3. Yes, DLP is still available, but already on the deck as considered going old-school at the moment.  The DLP's do not show as sharp a contrast compared to new model tvs and technology has improved and cost has gone down.  The DLP's technology really has improved that all much and probably will not improve anymore - at least not to the point that it's cost effective.   In other words, why get a new dlp tv that has worse specs that a current lcd or plasma, yet cost more?
