Regarding India passport renewal and old visa validity?

Hi my folks recently applied for their Indian passport renewal

And while they both got the new passport one of them had a stamp attesting that the old visas were still valid while there other didn't have the stamp

the stamps reads:

"THE HOLDER HAD PREVIOUSLY TRAVELLED ON INDIAN

PASSPORT NO. XYZ ISSUED AT CHENNAI ON xyz

WHICH HAS BEEN CANCELLED AND RETURNED AND VALID VISAS

CONTAINED IN, ARE NOT CANCELLED"

my question is will it(not having the stamp) cause any problem if my parents travel to US.

they have valid visa (per their old passport) to travel to the US

thanks

  1. The validity of the visa remains until the date of its expiration. When they travel to the US, they need to show their new passport and their old passport to prove that they have met the visa requirements for entering the US. The visa should remain valid for as long as it says unless it has been canceled or altered, whether intentionally or accidentally.

If they wish, they can apply for new visa to be entered into their new passports but this will cost them as it is an entirely new visa. I suggest that they check at their local embassy/consulate for more details.

  2. When you renew your expired passport and it still has a valid visa, you are supposed to attach the old passort to the new one so when you enter the POE, the immigration officer sees the valid visa in the old passport. That visa in the old passport will get you in the US (or any country), not any stamp. I hope they gave you back the old passports with the visas. But hey, things may work differently in your country.**

  3. better go to said visa country embassy and duplicate valid visa from old passport to new passport.

  4. I BELIEVE THAT I MAY BE A PROBLEM.BUT HAVE YOUR PARENTS CHECK WITH THE LOCAL CONSOLET TOO BE SURE.
