To all my Tech Savvy NRIs or RI brothers (sisters also) to the topic now, i am planning to buy Yamaha RX-V663 or Onkyo TX-SR705 in the US and use it here for 15 months and will be returning to India can i use a Step down Transformer, i had a reply from Yamaha officially that i can use them with 1.5 times the rated Receivers power consumption, but Onkyo said never use them, has any one used Onkyo in this manner please reply ASAP, since the Onkyo TX-SR705 has more features for the buck. Thanks in Advance for the Answers

  1. Both recievers are excellent. I personally own an Onkyo. Mfgrs tend to be overly conservative because of liability.  Yamaha is talking about something else.

What you need is to make the input power proper. US uses 60Hz 120 Volts India has 230 volts 50Hz. There are plenty of adapters availible

  2. I do agree with harrison, voltage step up is not a big problem but changing frq from 60 Hz to 50 Hz is really technical.

if u find an adaptor in india pls tell me because i had the same plan but dropped. Even the AVR is sophisticated equipment, i dont know will it work good with such adaptor. also if u get international warranty thats good. so better u clear all this issue before buy.

if u can Buy it from singapore ur problem will be solved. Check also for denon new series.
