Regarding gas reimbursement?

when i was hired i was told i had to use my own car for work, covering numerous locations, but was given a gas card to cover gas. gas cards were then taken away and replaced with an allowance. my question is since i have to travel to work at different locations is commute mileage factored in or does the mileage start at the first business location?

  1. You need to ask your employer.  If you drive to your office first, then I would figure mileage from the office to my first business location and so on.  However if I were driving from home, I would count mileage from the first business location.  Most times you don't get reimbursed for driving from home to work.
