If you are serving alcohol, you have to have some food.  All that sugar, then booze, watch out!

It doesn't cost that much to have cheese, crackers, fruit and veges.  Please check into it.

Don't get me wrong, I've been to some very lovely cake and coffee receptions (at around 2:00 in the afternoon), but no food and a cash bar at 7:45?  That's tacky.

You should still have something for them to much on.... Appetizers shouldn't be too much money....

after looking at both questions...wheres the food?  you expect people to go to wedding that probably starts at dinner time and are not having any food, except cake and nuts.I understand the concept of a dessert only reception, but any time you invite people to be with you during a customary mealtime, you've got to feed them something substantial. A dessert-only reception should be held only in the late afternoon (before 4:00) or in the late evening (after 9:00). If you want to have a dessert party to save money, adjust your timing.
