Regarding the legend of Atlantis, could the sinking of the island be an exaggeration?

For instance, we know that land erosion commonly occurs to land near water. We also know that the same location, wherever land meets water, can be a potential seaport. If Atlantis had a grand seaport which suddenly fell into the sea due to catastrophic erosion of the land, do you think it could be interpreted as the sinking of Atlantis?

  1. Yes, it could have been a seaport and a huge tsunami could have wiped out everything  . . .I believe it did exist because of the stories told by different nationalities of people . . .scientists or treasure hunters are all looking  and some day it will be found.

  2. yes, I think that it was located below sea level somewhere in the middle of the atlantic ocean and had sea walls but one day a tsnami came and washed it away, survivors went to egypt, and lived with them

  3. Atlantis is fiction invented by Plato. The moral of the story calls for a sudden catastrophe sent by the gods. There's no evidence it was real but much evidence it wasn't real. You're wasting time thinking about this. Just as well try to invent theories about J.R.R. Tolkien's "Middle Earth" or Harry Potter's "Hogwarts Academy".

  4. Well archaeologist found sea bed fault lines broken at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.  Also I think you answered your own question because Atlantis was taken by catastrophic erosion. Enlil sent a comet close to the earth which caused Tsunamis. This story was recorded by the Sumerians with the epic of Gilgamesh story of Utanpishtim and by Noah of the Hebrews may in fact be the same two individuals. Graham Hancock and Stephen S Mehler both date the catastroph at 11,500 to 10,500 BC.
