Question:

Regardless of who you're voting for given different circumstances isn't this totally hypocritical and shady?

Earlier in the eveing the GOP released a statement saying they will no longer talk about the vetting procedures for Palin. And also that they don't want anyone talking about any of the "issues" (Bristol aside) that the news media has unearthed. Palin herself along with McCain both asked that children be left out of the politics, and yet she is using her special needs baby as a campaign tactic. I understand women with Downs babies may align with her, but 5 seconds after you ask people to leave your family alone; is it really appropriate to bring it front and center? And also why do you think the GOP is now basically using the sexist card to keep people from looking into Palins background and asking questions? No matter who you are voting for or want to be president; dosn't that raise your eyebrows a bit?

  1. The McCain campaign vetted Gov Palin to their complete satisfaction.

The complaints about vetting are coming from the media and others who don't think that she was vetted to THEIR standards.

    Tough.

The media had their research ready for all the likely suspects.  They're just pissed that they didn't have this woman already torn to pieces.

The Democrats are just complaining in general because their opposition research team were caught off-guard.

Gov. Palin was introducing her family tonight.

Would you have expected her to ignore her infant simply because the little boy has Downs Syndrome?

Does that make him some kind of outcast?

Gove Palin will do the normal things that any working mother would do.

Or that any working father would do.

It would be sexist to make a distinction.

No one cried out in horror that Joe Biden had small children that he left behind every day in Delaware when he traveled to DC to serve in the Senate.

In fact, when he tried to quit, people talked him into staying.

No one says a word about Democratic Cong. Deborah Wasserman-Schultz leaving her 3 small kids at home in Florida while she serves in Congress - and then bashing Palin.

So why are Democratic women and the media picking on Sarah?

THAT should really raise your eyebrows!!!

Aren't you ashamed of the Democrats and the media????

  2. It's called politics, and right or wrong it just happens to be the way things are and have always been. We get it from both parties, so what's new?

  3. Hypocrosy at it's worst.  But, it's only just begun as the Carpenters would sing.  The Repugs had the nerve to say Obama used his children during the DNC when they came out on stage after Michelle's speech, but there she was, using her baby boy as a poliitical tool.  In the next two months, she'll be spending less time with that baby than I spend on driving to work each day.  She parades around her pregnant teenage daughter, but cuts spending in Alaskan programs to help teenage mothers (see source below)?  H Y P O C R I T E

  4. It is acceptable tradition that the family of the candidate be at the speeches and brought out after wards or that they stand in a conspicuous place during the speech

It is not acceptable or traditional to trash those family members as a way to get even with the candidate for running against you

  5. Huh?? What was she supposed to do hide her family away in a closet while she gave the most important speech of her life? Obama hasn't exactly hidden his family. what exactly is your point. She is relatable unlike Obama, a lot of people have things in common with her. She is an ordinary person and a mom like half of the rest of the country.

  6. I totally agree with you.  All she did was give that same speech she gave before when she first got on stage.  "My kids, my baby, my husband, oooh, I went to a PTA meeting"...I was falling asleep waiting for her to talk about an issue.  Even my 14 year old said "what is that weird lady talking about, I thought this was suppose to be about politics?".

  7. No, I don't think so but I respect your right to form your own opinion.

  8. OH MY GOD !!!!!

You mean that the Republican Party is CORRUPT???

They seem like such nice people.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  9. It is hypocritical.  I agree.

  10. I thought having the baby is there was over the top.  A little baby shouldn't be in a convention hall with thousand's of people yelling and screaming any more than they should be at Rock concert. But the baby is there for the anti abortion vote and you are correct that are using it as a symbol -- they have been using it as a talking point ever since she was nominated -- they make a big deal about the fact that she knew it was Down's Syndrome and she didn't have an abortion.

Her sons will be continued to be used, you can count on that also.

  11. Typical republican politics.  Try to bully the press out of doing their job.  The fact is she told a bunch of lies about her record up there tonight and it needs to come out to the public.    As far as the sexist card yes..  Cindy McCain came out saying the media has been sexist.

Let me add however the attack on the children of Palin has been extreme and unnecessary.  Her record and beliefs when it comes out will be plenty to sink McCain.

  12. You need to cite a source and not paraphrase what the statement entailed.

  13. No.  She had her family with her just like Obama and Biden did.  At least she didn't pose them for the cameras like Biden did his grandchildren..

There truly does seem to be a double standard when it comes to women in politics..

  14. I completely agree with you...she "whored" everything she could, she is using herself and her family as props for the republicans

  15. No, you're right.

Please feel free to trash Palin's downs syndrome baby.

EDIT: Actually, you wouldn't be the first.  People on here have been calling him "r****d" since she was announced for VP.

  16. did you expect her to hide her baby? no. it's not shady to show off your family.

  17. It's not appropriate.  Nor is agreeing to take money for the Bridge to Nowhere and then later saying you oppose it.

  18. Sorry  but if can't see the difference between the two, you're an idiot!!!!

    Game ON!

    McCain/Palin '08

  19. Well, Obama did the exact same thing,,, he went on TV and said leave his wife and family out of it, then there they were right there on stage just like you are talking about,,, so yes,, you are hypocritical,,, very much so.

Her family is none of your business just like Obama's.

    Edit

What she said was no different than any other politician standing up some where saying they want to help the disabled, she just has personal experience,, I think that would make a great advocate for the disabled,,,, who better? geezzz
