Regeants help- rocks and minerals?

Does igneous or sedimntary contain fossils and i need to know more distinguishing charteristics to help me determine the type of rock i would have if i had one in front of me

  1. Sedimentary rocks have fossils.  They are formed in layers.

    Fossils would burn up during igneous rock formation since igneous rock comes from magma.

  2. Fossils are found in sedimentary rocks.

    sedimentary characteristics: particles cemented together(such as conglomerate), contains shells (such as limestone), may show layers

    igneous characteristics: intergrown crystals,(large visible crystals) vasicular gas pockets(it is very light and has a lot of holes), glassy volcanic rock (obsidian)
