Reggie Bush's return still questionable
It's getting more and more difficult to put a date on when New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush will make his return after suffering a broken bone in his right leg during week two.
Bush has recently stated that the decision as to whether or not he plays is not just up to him, but will ultimately be made by the whole team. Bush also admits that this particular injury is unlike any he's had before.
"We'll see what happens. I feel like this is a good weekend to get out there.
"It's me. It's the coaches. It's the trainers and the doctors," he said of who will be involved in the decision making process. "If we feel like, collectively, I can get back out there and play this weekend, I'll get back out there. If it were up to me,
I would have been playing."
Bush admits that he felt like he could have gone as early as week nine when the Saints took on the Carolina Panthers. He had even traveled with the team, but was later ruled out for the game.
"I felt like I could have played at that point. Again, it's not just my decision. It's a collective decision and a collective effort."
The Saints, led by Drew Brees, have one of the NFL's sharpest passing offences, but their running offence is ranked 25th in the league as both Bush and Pierre Thomas have been out with injuries. The Saints struggles running the ball will make Bush's return
all the more welcome.
"He moved around pretty well and got some good work. We just keep plugging ahead and increasing the workload," head coach Sean Payton said when asked if Bush would start in the Saints' upcoming game against the Seattle Seahawks.
"Each week he has gotten better. There haven't been any setbacks, so, naturally, he's better today than he was a week ago or two weeks ago."
