Register an Explorer Post?

Question

I am the Cheif of a newly founded Explorer Post among our Town's Fire Dept. and want to know how we register to get our post number? I think the "Explorers" thing is something under The Boy Scouts?

congratulations on forming your Post! Contact your local BSA Council service center and ask for your District Executive or District Director. The DE or DD will be able to help you get your Post running. To pick a number, make it something pertinent and meaningful to the unit. Post 911 is great for an Emergency Post. You could go with the year 2008 or with 1961 (it is the same number upside down).

On the charter, there will be an administrative number for your post, but you can use the number you've chosen; provided it is not assigned to another Post in your Council.
