Question:

Registering A Charity

About a hundred friends of mine have joined me in my idea to raise money for Cancer Research and Christies Hospital.

Im 17 and most of my friends are also.

I was just wondering though as we have a name for the charity and we are going to be organizing events for this.. would I have to register the charity first?

Would i be able to register the charity being only 17?

Any advice on doing this would be great... xxxxx

  1. The number one thing you are going to do is contact the charities that you will be raising money for. They likely will be more than happy to help you out and will likely have specific guidelines for you to follow.

If you are limiting your activities to raising funds, you likely do not need to register or form a nonprofit organization, but you should also check if there are any state laws related to this. Again, the charity is probably a good place to start.
