I'm going on a trip to Zagreb from Toronto and i found cheap tickets but you need to stop at Czech Republic first.

I never did a 1 stop before.

are there people to help you find your next flight?

are there english speaking people, or will it be all czech

other questions:

why does it say travel time 14 hours when a direct to zagreb from Czech is 1 hour 25 and a direct from toronto to Czech is around 8 hours?

Why are direct so expensive?

  1. Relax!! haha it's actually really easy. When you arrive to czech rep. you may have to do customs. Surely there might be huge signs pointing where to go.

If you're travelling on the same airline then you won't have to pick your baggage, they will send it to toronto. If you're in differente airlines nthen you'll need to pick up your baggage and make the same process you did with your first flight.

Your boarding pass will show the gate of your next flight, again there will be signs at the airport. You  can also ask someone who works at there airport (i'm that some of them must speak english).

If it says 14 hrs it is including your connection time, in this case it will be of 4 hrs and 35 min.

Good luck and have a nice trip!

  2. Don't panic, this is all very easy :)

Look at your flight itinerary. Do your flights from Toronto to Czech Republic and from Czech to Zagreb arrive and leave from the same terminal? If yes, all you need to do upon arriving at Czech is hang around the transit area in the airport while you wait for your next flight. If not, follow the signs that say "connecting flights" at the airport. They will lead you to a shuttle bus/train service that brings you to the terminal that your next flight departs from. In both cases, you do not need to go through immigration/customs as Czech is not your final destination, and you do not need to collect your baggage; it will go straight to Zagreb.

Travel time is the total time you spend travelling to your destination. Besides the flight durations, the time you spend waiting during your stopover in Czech is also counted.

I am not sure why direct is more expensive, but it's probably that it's much faster so there's greater demand.

  3. 1) Yes, there are people to help you find your next flight.  Ask anybody in a uniform.

    2) There will likely be English-speaking people, but I cannot say from personal experience at that particular airport

    3) It sounds like you will have 4:35 to sit in the airport in Prague

    4) Direct flights are more expensive simply because people like them better, so the airlines feel they can charge a premium for the more desirable product.

    5) If Zagreb and Czech are both in the EU (I really should know the answer to that!) you will not have to do customs.  If either or both is not an EU-member, you will have to do customs.  If you have to do customs, you will need to collect and re-check your bags.  If you don't have to do customs, and are on the same airline for both flights, you don't need to worry about bags in Czech.  If you don't have to do customs, but are on different airlines...it depends on if those two airlines have an agreement in place or not, and you will be told when checking in at Zagreb.
