The last I heard they couldn't get a deal done, I'm not sure if it's attached to some other bills working or not.  Bush was not inclined to allow it.  It really isn't necessary, as unemployment is very low by historic standards.  The problem is, there are WAY too many people who COULD be working easily but who don't just because they know they can get this free money.  If it were truly for people who couldn't find work, that would be different.
