17th birthday?help?

Question

i'm having a small bbq with my friends on the21st of June for my birthday. were gunna have hamburgers and hot dogs salad and like bbq food. i'm gunna have hawaiian decorations and i have apool.

do you have any other ideas to maky my bbq fun?

like food ideas,decoration ideas, acivity ideas(things 17 year olds would enjoy!)...just ANYTHING! to make my party just a little bit more :)

A slip n slide! I had one for my Sweet 16. It's so much fun. Get a very large tarp and place it on a flat surface. Tie it down with rope. Cover it with water and dish soap, and just go at it! So much fun.

Since you're having a Hawaiian Party, have hula hoop contests, pineapples, hula skirts, etc etc.

Make non-alcoholic Pina Coladas, Daquaris, etc etc. I did that for my 13th party and everyone loved it!

Keep food coming! Chips and dip, fruit and veggie platters (make them yourself... much cheaper!), snack foods, etc etc. It's really not that expensive. I shop at the Dollar Store and Save a Lot for my parties. We affordably have a party that has 20-30 people in and out. I've never spent a ridiculous amount.

Just have lots of things going on, and no one will get bored. I always find that bigger parties last longer and no one gets bored. If it's possible, invite more people and don't be afraid to let friends invite friends. Even if you don't usually hang out with them, it's okay. I always had some people I wasn't really friends with, but talked to, and it was tons of fun.

Set up a volleyball net and play badmitten and volleyball.

Have waterballoon fights.

Since you have a pool, get an inflatable boat, and as part of decoration and as a cool effect, fill it with ice and some drinks and float it around the pool.  Put some water bottles, soda, etc.  So when you and your friends are in the pool, your drinks are floating around with you.

Set up a lounge area around the pool.  Chairs, towels, waterproof pillows, etc.  Make it a loungy area for you and your friends to hang out at.

Have an ice cream bar.  Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice and lots of toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and those marachino cherries.  Go to the dollar store and get those tall, plastic sundae glasses and let everyone make their own sundaes.

You can get a volleyball net for the pool.

Get some beach balls and scatter them in the pool, I'm sure everyone will play around with them.  

There are some awesome pool games and toys out now, and not just kiddie ones, you can check out Toys R' Us and your local pool store and online.  The have pool arcades, ping pong tables, etc, all for the pool.  

For decorations, you can do tiki torches, and also hang some clear, stringed Christmas lights.  If your party goes into the evening, it will look really nice to have the area lit up.

There are also light up orbs you can get that float around the pool and they change colors.  Grandinroad.com sells them and you may be able to find them elsewhere in brookstone.com  I know Grandin Road has them.  If you get them, they can be used over and over each year, so it's not a one time use, it's more of an investment, and they're not too expensive, and it's a cool effect to have them floating in the pool and changing colors.

You can do clusters of ballons, etc.  You can go to orientaltrading.com they have TONS of decorations for the theme you're having and they are very inexpensive.  They even have inflatable palm trees!  You can put them around the area.

id also reccomend chicken kebabs on the bbq their lovely

volleyball in the pool also sounds like a gr8 idea
