My parents got me this gorgeous diamond ring to symbolize this new adult life of mine and a Dooney and Bourke. The ring means a lot to me though, it's very dainty and reminds me that they will always be there for me no matter what. Yup I really do love that ring I barely take it off! =]

Hm, I think a great gift would be furnishings for their college dorm. I would make up a cute gift certificate on your computer saying like... "This gift certificate entitles you to a bedding set, an extra pair of sheets, a desk light, a closet organizer, and $100 of other dorm room gear of your choosing"

Young adults need to understand that once they are an adult they shouldn't expect things like that to be paid for by their parents and understand it is more of a gift.

a voter registration form, luggage, and dinner at a restaraunt of her choice,

thats what dad got me.  He teased me that the luggage was a hint to go find my own place in the world.  After another year at his house, i did move out and on my own, and it was the best thing for me to do.  Dad not only raised me alone, he's still my best friend i can confide in
