1978 sportster regulator wiring?

Question

I bought a new regulator can somebody please tell me were the 3 wires go .green , red , brown.

Also which post is the aA post and which is the F post on the Gen ?

they are marked armature --feild --battery

be sure to polarise it when your through mounting it

it,s stamped on the generator housing.....also stamped on your regulator........red wire should be hot [battery wire]...test with 12volt test probe...go,s to bat .term on regulator....as far as the other,s ...just make sure field on generator go,s to field on regulator & armature go,s to A on regulator....be sure to polarize.......then test [ while running] with volt meter...run up R.P.M.......should read over 12 volt,s.

I'm not sure about the wiring but I would go to the dealer and get a factory repair manuel for that bike it should have wire diagrams in it.
