1986 gsxr 750 slipping clutch?

I have a 1986 Suzuki GSXR 750..I have just bought it and changed the oil before i used it-now im using it the clutch seems to be slipping-what engine oil should be in it and would the wrong oil cause the slipping clutch.??

Whatever oil you used should be JASO MA or API SG spec oil. That means it's been formulated specifically for use in motorbike engines, and the oil bottle should have one or both of those terms on the label somewhere. The clutch in your bike is identical to the one in the Bandit 1200, which I have, and can slip if car oil is used - car oil is not intended to come into contact with a clutch mechanism, and usually contains friction modifiers to make it even slippier.  You may need to dismantle your clutch and clean the plates with degreasant before refilling the bike with fresh oil.

it was slipping before u changed the oil....strip and sand plates slightly with 300 grade wet/dry paper...

if it wasn't slipping b4 you changed  the oil then yes especially  if you used car oil instead of motorcycle oil as the anti friction properties of car oil can cause this  if not then try adjusting if that don't work then looks like you need a new clutch

The wrong oil can most definately cause the clutch to slip, but I would think that allowing for the age of the bike I would suggest that the clutch is well overdue for replacement.

Check the adjustment first to ensure you have the correct amount of free play in the lever.

As long as the oil was to the correct spec. and wasn't just ordinary car engine oil you should be OK on that score.
