1994 Mitsubishi Mirage?!?! please help?

I have a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage ES, I just had a new fuel pump and distributor put in at the beginning of the year. However, in the past few months when starting my car(only if it hasn't been driven for a long period of time-once engine is cooled completely) when i go to start it, it shuts off but then starts right back up after trying a few times and runs fine. And now while driving I am beginning to feel it jumping like it may shut off(but doesn't) while I am stopped- if i put it in neutral it does not do it, only in drive. Also, my car goes all the way to the red on the temperature and then will go right back down(it keeps doing this) Can anybody help!!???

wow i had a similar problem with my 89 celica, and it turned out to be my distributor and timing. it could be a bad piston, which will really suck because its alot to repair, could also be the spark plugs, spark plug gaps, spark plug wires, or even the timing, even though it may idle properly it could be misfiring from bad timing

Time to sell. It's not worth very much, but you need a good reliable car. Toyota or Honda fill the bill. Get a warranty. Sorry for your trouble.
