There was no robbery.  Look at the tape: Tony Tarasco didn't have his glove lined up right, and he didn't jump for the ball.  If Jeffrey Maier wasn't there, the ball would've bounced off the wall, and Jeter would've ended up on third base.  If anything, Tarasco owes Maier a steak dinner: He saved Tarasco from being the biggest goat in the history of Baltimore sports!
