2000 chevy monte carlo blower fans?

Ok my ac blower fans have been cutting in and out and does not work on setting 1 and when they do run the go slow then fast and have been making weird noises i have researched on the net and i have seen that the resitor can go bad causing number 1 not to work but could this also be the reason the fans cut in and out the only do it like when i first start the car the don't work at all and then later i start the car up and they are working again i need to know what might need replaced and how hard it is to do i would like to do it myself i don't got much money so just wondering

  1. Any time you have this type of problem the resistor block is the problem.This block has coils that get loose and brake over time and cause this problem.If you are going to replace this yourself a haynes manual from your local auto parts store will give you step by step instructions on how to replace this resistor.This manual will also help down the road with all other problems you might have.Best of luck.
