Hey all you amazing people of yahoo answers!

I have a question. Someone asked me how does someone qualify to go to the olympics for a particular sport (in this case snowboarding/half pipe). Are there any prerequisites or anything like that? if that makes sense? Im trying to word it like she did but im not the brightest person here.

Anyways, me being a pretty good snowboarding I should have known this (since my dream is to go to the olympics) but couldnt. So I decided to ask you smart people :)

the 2014 olympics are in Sochi, Russia! so beautiful.

anyways, don't shoot the messenger we just want some info (im all interested in it now too to come to think of it...)

thanks in advance (:

  1. There will be selection events.  You will have to qualify for those events (which probably means qualifying for the qualifying events, and possibly qualifying for the qualifying events for the qualifying events).  In other words you will have to enter the competitive scene, do well at minor events and get invited to better regarded events.  Start now.  You do not have much time.  If you are not already competing in events you have a long road ahead of you.
