My 20month old daughter has always been a fantastic sleeper she would normally go up to bed at 7pm and sleep 12hours a night, she sleeps in a toddler bed in her own bedroom.

The last two weeks though she will not go to bed on her own she screams the place down and wants to come back downstairs or sleep in our bed, its so unusual for her. If i get in her bed with her she'll happily go to sleep eventually but i've got a 4month old to see too aswell so i havent always got the time to be laying upstairs with her for an hour or two each night. Just before this started happening she had to go into hospital overnight for dehydration do you think this could have affected her and shes now afraid to be left aloneor is it just a phase all toddlers go through. Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. "Just before this started happening she had to go into hospital overnight"

Hospitals can be a scary place for anyone, even if you are being treated well there.

She needs reassurance right now, she needs to know she is safe again at home in bed -- and for that she wants to be close to you, which is fair enough, you're her mom.

"but i've got a 4month old to see too aswell so i havent always got the time to be laying upstairs with her for an hour or two each night"

There are many family's who share beds with both toddler and baby -- there are very safe ways for it to be done.

When she feels secure enough again, which she will, she will be happy to return to her own bed.
