21st birthday soon! any ideas on what the first drink should be?

Depends on what you want:

If you want to start teaching your taste buds the sophisticated flavors of Beers and Wines, grab some Classic American beers such as Budweiser, MGD, Coors Original, and Pabst Beers.  There is no point in getting anything imported or something people might consider "Premium" if you have no standard to base it on.

For Wine, get the classics:  Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay.

Mixed drinks?  I'd stay away from mix drinks unless you're making Adios Mother F**Kers...

1 oz vodka

1 oz gin

1 oz white rum

1 oz Blue Curacao liqueur

6 oz sweet and sour mix

6 oz 7-Up® soda
