I was walking with my friend when i saw someones underground sprinklers turn on and he had 23 sprinklers to 1 zone! how is this possible, it was just a residental no pump and they didnt have that much pressure but they still worked to do the small strip around his yard most of them were half rain bird sprayers, what kind of pipe do you think they used and do you think that funny pipe gives more pressure?

  1. The pipe matters, but it is all about the Flow and Pressure.

Let's says these nozzles are 5 ft half spray nozzles, at 15 psi they would require about 12gpm.

So to insure you haver the 15psi at each nozzle, you would then have to account for pressure loss through the pipe. (Link Below)

But 23 is possible, all depends on the flow and pressure available.

  2. most residential systems are set up with one inch valves ,one inch pipe to start ,reducing to half inch by the end of the zone. a one inch valve puts out about 22 gals. per min. .what he has are probably side strip nozzles ,not half's ,which use .75 gals. per. min. =17.25 gal. or they could be 10 foot halves@.75 gal. per. min.  .but they cant possibly be 15 foot halves @1.5  gal. per. min,  hope that was easy to understand.
