  1. CC is cubic centimeters.

Sportbikes refer to their displacement, or CC's because every sportbike brand can actually base how fast and heavy a bike is off their CC's.

But it depends if you get a supersport or a sporttourer sportbike.

A 600cc supersport (inline 4cyl) is about 370 pounds, and can go about 160mph.

a 650cc sporttourer that is a vtwin or inline 2 can go about 145 mph and might weigh more

For instance, a Harley that is an 883 or 1800 isn't going to be that much faster, this is why its hard to gauge a Harley. Also, even though it's a 1800, it is going to be left in the dust by a 600cc sportbike. Harley engines are made for low speeds and torque.

  2. The cc referred to has nothing to do with speed, it is the size of the engine.  250cc means 250 cubic centimeters.  Motorcycle speed is measured in miles per hour the same as automobile speed.

  3. cc is basicly the size of the engine and the bigger the engine the more power you will get out of it

  4. The larger the number, the larger the engine, which equates to more power & speed.

Motorcycles are measured in 1/4 mile times and top speed.

  5. In motorcycle engines, cc stands for cubic centimeters.  It is by no means a standard for speed, but rather engine displacement.  It also doesn't mean that the larger the engine the faster the bike.  There are larger V-twins that are not faster than lesser displacement in-line four engines.  Motorcycle speeds are measured by either mph or km/hr...just like cars.  Hope that clears things up for you.

  6. why is it some of you think that bigger is faster? It doesen't mean faster at all ONLY a larger displacment.

  7. well spiderman.. since when do you ride motorcycles

  8. Well "cc" is not really about speed. It's a measurement for engine size.  And in the motorcycle world size does not always mean faster.  A 600cc sport bike is going to be faster than a similar 600cc cruiser.  Which is based on gears, wind resistance, sprocket sizes etc.

But the actual term "cc" means "Cubic Centimeters"

If we were talking cars it would be like saying: I have a 350 V8 in my Chevy or a 2.0 liter 4cylinder in my Volkswagen etc.

  9. cc is not about the engine size it refers to displacement as in cubic centimeters.
