3 year old not swallowing food?

I gave my son spagetti at 8. its 9 now. he still has it in his mouth. at 12. i gave him pizza. he had it in his mouth for an hour then spit it out....whys he doing this? hes did it for 2 days.

does your son drink milkshakes?

or just drinks....?

if not go to his pediatrician.

make sure you give your 3 year old son very small portions of food.

and it is possible it could hurt his little teeth by chewing!

So put a timer on the table. Tell him he has X amount of time to eat. Once the timer dings, the meal is over. He cannot have food until the next meal. He'll either sit there or he'll eat. When he gets hungry, he will eat his food. I'd suggest not giving him longer than 20-30 minutes for a meal.

he may not like the taste of it. try something he really likes and see if he likes it plus try those gerbart toddler foods. THEY ARE REALLY GOOD!!!!

If it is something new maybe he has a sore throat. Take a flashlight and try and look in his mouth to see if he has any sores or swollen glands. He could also be getting new teeth that are bothering him. Try giving him soft foods for a day or two if it doesn't get better take him to the doctor. Good luck this too will pass.
