It all started about 6 weeks ago.. I noticed that this discharge was a lot thinner than usual and looked almost like I peed on myself. I called the doctor and they didn't seem concerned. I had to get them to squeeze me in.. My Doctor said It was no biggie and sent me home.. Well it is still happening and now I am soaking my panties. It has only happened 3 or 4 times since then (That bad ) but I always feel like I am leaking... Again my doctor doesn't seem to be concerned but I just don't think this is normal. I think I am leaking fluid?? Or Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone before??? Please help... Should I get a second opinion?

  1. Sounds like urinary incontinence, amino has a very distinct odor to it, a very sweet bleachy smell, no mistaken amnio!

  2. insist on the ultrasound and a get checked out... I forget what it is called but sometimes there is a rupture high up in the amniotic sack that causes a slow leak..... get checked out... tell your dr, you are very worried.. it is your right as a patient to insist on your needs being met... if your dr. still doesn't check then go see another dr for a second opinion...

Soaking your underwear isn't normal, maybe not horrible but not normal

  3. Does it have a smell to it?  Does it smell like urine?  Does it smell sweet.  I have heard that amniotic fluid has a sweet smell to it.  There is a test that they can do at the hospital to check your fluids.  I would just go to the ER and check if your doctor doesn't want to do it.  It is common to pee without even realizing it when you are this far along.  A friend of mine thought her water had broke and it ended up that the baby had just kicked so hard that her bladder emptied suddenly.  Hope everything turns out okay for you.

  4. you should most definitely seek another opinion especially if this doctor doesn't seem to be comforting you about this.   this is your pregnancy and you should definitely take measures to insure the safety of your unborn child.

  5. Did they check to see if it was amniotic fluid?  Does it have a odor or color?  I would get a second opinion or go to the hospital and get checked out.

  6. I wouldn't worry about it. It's normal to have a ton of vaginal fluid towards the end of the pregnancy. I had it so bad I had to wear a pad.

Your doctor can do a very simple test to check for amniotic fluid at your next appointment if you are still worried.

  7. If you are worried see about seeing a different doctor or forgo that and go strait to the ER! That weird because just regular moisture shouldn't be enough to wet the panties through and make you look like you peed! Call your doctor again and tell them its becoming worse and that you look like your peeing your pants. Let them know its not pee. if they don't take you seriously go to the ER and forget the Doctor! Good luck!

  8. This is normal. Just wear a pad when it is happening. You are continually replenishing and replacing your amniotic fluids with the protein you eat and the water you drink. The leaking can happen when the baby changes position or presses on your bladder. There is nothing to worry about. Your doctor is right and it is normal. Best wishes, G

  9. could be urine, because the baby is putting more pressure on your bladder...amniotic fluid usually smells sweet n fruity...

usually this late in the pregnancy it is normal to produce more vaginal fluids, and also fluids of different consistancies.

i suggest that you do a walk-in to the labor and delivery unit, tell them that you are worried that your water has broken, and they will check you and run a test. this test is nothing more than a strip of litmus paper that is inserted into the v****a, and if it changes to a certain color, then yes it is your water, if it doesnt, it is either discharge/mucous or urine.

    good luck
