I would like to buy a 36" hd tv w/ 1080p technology. What's a good price to pay and what brands would you suggest?

  1. I would suggest, from your question, that you know nothing about HDTV technology and need to do some reading.

1st, for mere mortals, stepping up to 1080p from 720p/1080i means nothing until you get to a screen size of about 50", as you can't really SEE the difference.

2nd, go to your local public library and read the HDTV article in the 3/08 Consumer Reports magazine. Then you will have enough info to at least ask a question.

In 37", I would suggest a Panasonic Viera plasma display (or LCD!), or a Sony Bravia LCD, all in 720p. But the CR article will give you suggestions and ratings, as to both performance and reliability. Stay away from the cheap, "no-name", disposable junk TVs!!!
