4 wheel drive operating

my brother borowed my truck to haul brick that he purchased and was goin 65mph on the highway while on 4 Lo which is low ranger four wheel drive and is supposed to be used only under 25 mph

did he damage my truck

  1. its not good for it it puts alot of strain on the motor, transfer case and front axle. if you pop open the front diff and there metal shavings in it then yeah he damaged you tuck but its just harder (unnecessary) wear on your motor


  2. well unless the truck was at red-line the whole way i don't think it would hurt it.  

  3. It must not of been kicked in to 4 wheel low because it is not possible to go that fast in low

I doubt it.  You can check your transmission fluid however.  Pull the dipstick and wipe it on a clean WHITE cloth.  Look for small shiny specks that indicate metal shavings if you have an unusually high number (more than 5-10) get it checked out by a transmission shop.  Don't tell them what is wrong with it just ask them to do a checkup on your tranny.
