Question:

40GB PS3... is that enough space?

I'm thinking about getting a PS3, but I'm not sure which model to buy. 40GB or 80GB? The 40GB is my first choice since it's cheap, but how important is that extra 40GB on the 80GB model? Will it affect how long I get to use the system, like for example, future games needing multiple gigs of space? How much smarter would it be to spend the extra for the 80GB? I'd like to get the opinions of other PS3 owners.

Note that the backwards compatibility isn't a big thing for me, and neither are the extra multimedia slots. It's really just a matter of space.

  1. well i think you should go with 80gb ps3  it has enough space so you don't have to worry about going over on space but the ideal ps3 is 60gb just cus it is in the middle and you don't have to worry soo try 60gb on the internet to see if it is lower than 500$

  2. get the core pack its the 40GB ps3 but with 80GB HDD and a dual shock 3 controller

  3. You can always switch out the 40 gig harddrive for a bigger one and save some money buying a 80gig ps3 which is a lot more.

    Google search ps3 hardrive swap

    its really easy

  4. I recommend waiting until August 27 and get the new 80GB coming out. It will be a 40GB with 2x the hard drive and will be the same price. Plus, it will be bundled with a DualShock 3 controller instead of the original SIXAXIS. If you could care less about PS2 compatibility and the multimedia slots, then wait for the 80GB coming August 27.

  5. Ok well the normal 40 gigg one (without backwards compatability) is getting change with a 80 gigg  one soon enough and it will be the exact same price so get an 80 gigg :)
