He has 60 years no claims and is devestated that he has lost it!!

Is there anyway it can be protected or anyone have any idea if his no claims bonus wil now drop back down to 0% due to the claim

  1. What state are you in?   In California a claim only counts against you if more than $750 in damages are paid.

Check out to see if your state has this kind of limit.   Ask your insurance agent.

  2. Once a claim is filed, it's filed.  There is no way to file a claim and still be claim free.  Hopefully this won't affect him too adversely.  He will lose the claim free discount and may have a surcharge due to the accident, all in accordance with state law and there is no way to change that.  he is probably an older driver (75 years old +) so the company may "watch" his future record for signs that his driving skills are deteriorating.  If he has any more accidents in the next 3-5 years the company may cancel him.  Companies are taking a harder position on older drivers now that they are having the same amount or more accidents than teenagers.
