  1. I am a 400m runner. You should practice faster 400 meters.

  2. 4 mins that is not too good i think you should try not to walk it, or check if your still alive?

  3. It will be hard to drop your time by a whole minute by the 15th of july. Just keep practicing and you should get better. You should also get better as you get a bit older.

  4. Do you do any training? If not that would be a very good start!

You need a mix of speed & stamina for the 800m so you need to include both of these in your training.

    Stamina sessions:

    1) Continuous 20+minute jog (turn around after 10mins & see if you can get past your start point)

    2) 4x (4min run, 1min walk)= 20minutes

    3) Run, jog, run, walk, run, jog, walk etc. between lamposts for 20minutes

    Speed sessions:

It would probably be best to join a group at your local running track to do this kind of training

    4) 6-8x 200m (in 40secs) with walk 200m recovery

    5) 4-5x 300m at target race pace(64-65secs)

    6) 6x 100m flat out with 5mins recovery

Train 4-5 times a week doing an even amount of speed & stamina sessions. Do an easy jog 2 days before your race & then rest.

For your race itself its important that you don't start too fast. Some girls your age will be running 2:20 so don't try & keep with them! (By doing sessions like number 5 you know how fast you should be going) Try & speed up at the bell & again at 100-200 to go.

You should also be eating carbs like brown bread about 2 hours before your race & drinking an energy drink during the hour before.

Don't get nervous. If it goes wrong then you will continue to improve by doing sessions like those above. Let us know how you get on!

    Good luck!

  5. Ok, the 800meter is half of a mile, which is very hard to do.

The 400 is a complete sprint (in high school) And the 800 isn't that much different.

You want to start out at a pretty ok pace. Not like a sprint, and you don't want to use block (can you even use them? lol)

The last 400 is where it is at, you want to sprint for the whole time....

Now that you know what you should do, now you have to train to do it.

1)You should do one of my favorite techniques. Do the sprint/walks. You sprint 100 meters, than walk the next 100. (try doing this for 15 minutes)

2)do your mile, this will be harder since you are training for the 800, but you should definitely try to get your mile time better.

that should be pretty good, try doing these every other day. you should succeed!

  6. hi ignore the people who say you should be doing it in 1:60 or 2mins. thats like olympic standard. am year 8 and i do the race in 3:16 and i do ok in races. just do lots of other sports during the week and also run with a friend who can run with you and encourage you.

  7. you need to run a lot of 100 meter sprints so you can make it in the last straight away and run a mile take a break and run a mile as hard as you can keep doin that and you will bring it down guaranteed 800 meter runners have to be fast and have endurance so you have to run a lot of sprints and distance so you can have the balance

  8. its stu's sister answering :)

    im sorri darl

but youu need a reality check

you cannot imprve by a minute in such a short space of time

maybe aim to improve by 10 seconds thats more reasonable :)

if your interested in running it would be wise to join an athletic club and get yourself a good coach

i have been running for nearly 2 years now im 16

and my time has gone from 2:47

    to 2:27

    and thats pretty good going!

As you get older the time will naturally get faster if you have a good training plan in place

    good luck for your competition

    make sure you eat well

its very important to replace lost fluids aswell

ive had various problems such as exhaustion after combined events competitions and its not nice

    pre competition food should be

a good healthy breckfast ie. cereal toast or porridge

and during the lead up to the race bannana

    maybe a small chocolate bar

    energy drink jelly

    jelly babies

if its in the afternoon make sure you have a light lunch to

get a good night sleep before aswell that always helps

also if you have running spikes it makes it alot easier

  9. 800m in 3.52 mins!!!!!! i run 1.56!!!!!!!! seriously my 13 yr old sister run 2.20ish........ u need to train! hard!

  10. This bloke is a well known coach.Try this link;

  11. pace yourself and train as often as you can (i.e. every day?)

  12. You really need to train hard. That's almost 2min. per lap. At that rate you're going to get smoked. Keep a constant consistent pace for each lap by getting used to 400m. For endurance, run longer distances.
