  1. Wow, 2:58 as a 14 year old girl, that's pretty good!

I think the current world record for women's 800m is 1:53.  Sure that's fast, but if I'm right then it has stood since 1983.  And you don't need to run that fast to make the Olympics team either.  I think that at the moment to represent Great Britain in Beijing, they'd be looking for 2:05.

First thing to remember is that you are still developing at 14.  You clearly have some natural talent there already, so you should be able to get that time down a lot more with some proper kit, coaching and dedicated training.

When I was your age I won my school 400m race and I too wanted to run in the Olympics.  I never made it, but if you want something bad enough, and you have the ability then maybe you'll get there.

I think the best course of action for you at the moment will be to join an Athletics Club.  That will give you access to some coaches and enable you to meet other middle-distance runners.  You will be able to compare yourself to them and measure your improvement as your career develops.  You will also have the opportunity to compete in formal events where - if you are talented enough - other opportunities may develop.  You may even find that you are actually more talented at 400m or 1500m for example.

The training regime can be very hard.  You'll be seeing a lot of the track during the week, and it is best to have the support of your parents/guardian, especially with you needing to balance academic studies for at least the next 2 years.

Don't be disheartened when you get beaten.  It will happen.  You have potentially got 20 years or so of top-level running ahead of you yet, and even Kelly Holmes didn't win every race.

    Best of luck to you.

  3. Run flat out until you drop. A common mistake I see people doing on the 800 is they try to pace their self too much.

  4. you are very good

if u you want to get a better you have to start running a mile every day.

my freind who is 13 is very good and she can run it in 2.44
