88 zx7 pilot s***w adjustment?

I chem dipped and synched my carbs. I turned out pilot screws 2 turns. previously was 6.5 turns. Bike has V&H pipes,kn universal filters, and im guessing jet kit since its shimmed. its on the second shim down but sizes unknown. Idle is poor/lean. Any ideas?

Turn the pilot out a bit more.  Test ride it, if it's popping on decel, it's still too lean.  If you go more than 4 turns out, I'd say go up a jet size, and try again.  Keep turning out and test riding until the popping stops.  If the rest of the powerband is fine, then the pilot would probably be the only issue.

That's the method I used to jet my ATV.  I wound up having to go up 4 sizes on the pilot (42 to a 52), but it's running perfectly now.
