  1. Hi, I'm also entering the eighth grade, and in seventh grade, my grades where less than satisfactory. But I've been told that eighth is a lot easier than seventh grade, and this year, just have your parent or something help you study and with your homework. Hope I helped!

  2. I think it would be worthwhile to contact your seventh grade teachers and have them identify what areas of the curriculum you seemed to struggle with the most.  Be sure to ask them what preparations you need to make in order to be more successful this coming school year.

Look over any and all school assignments you turned in for a grade.  Re-examine the questions you missed, look for assignments/topics that you remember struggling with, etc.

    Then I'd hit the library.

If you find that you're weak in math, most libraries have a PLETHORA of old, obsolete 8th grade text books (Algebra I, I believe).  Do the example problems, maybe get a tutor?

Not so great in english/language arts?  Read, read, read!  Read anything of substance (key word: substance, in other words, classics) that you can get your hands on -- none of that teeny-bopper pseudo-literature.  Most libraries have a recommended reading list that you can pick up (I'd get a list for grade 8-10).   Oh, and be sure to learn your latin/greek roots!

With regard to history....brush up on your United States history (assuming New Hampshire's curriculum and California's are similar), starting with the colonization of America.

Below are links to the California Standards of Education for specific subjects:

Also, you may want to speak with your 8th grade teachers the first week of school.  Explain to them that you want to get a leg up on the course content that will be covered for their class and ask what measures you can take to ensure that you perform your best.

Hope this points you in the right direction. :)

  3. umm 8th grade courses are: algebra 1, physical science, us history, 8th grade language arts.
