9/11 New York?

Question

I'm not being funny but did a lot of people die running away from the clowds of smoke engulfing the streets?

I just seen a video on YouTube when the tower collapsed and everybody were running away from the smoke and then this really slow, short old lady with lots of bags was screaming as she looked back at how close she was to being caught then the camera swings off her. So I don't know if she lived or not :(

This is proberly a stupid question anyway.

I'm glad you asked such a question because at least we can go think back about real victims again.  

I'm not sure if the people that were running away from the scene were injured or even killed...it is a daunting thing to think about but I am sure that some people who, due to age, disability, or other circumstance were caught up in its wake.

Probably but I think the thing that hurt the most for yanks was the fact that they realised (finally) that the US wasnt invincible at all.

i believe some did die running away from the cloud depending on their age, health, etc.  If they were really close maybe they were hit by debris.  I'm just speculating of course but i know the cloud was suffocating to many who survived.  Many thought for sure they wouldn't make it, and i know it was pitch black in there.  The suns light could not penetrate at a certain distance.  

just be glad you weren't there.  i can't imagine what it was like.

And no, that wasn't a stupid question.  We can't really empathize with those poor people, but we can sympathize.

Yes there were people that were killed in the street. If you read the casualty count it says people in the tower and the ground. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_1...  There was also a women who died five months later who was added on the list because of a lung disease she contracted from the dust. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/24/nyregi... I was just looking at the casualty list last night and I did notice a few who are listed as having died on the ground.

You did not ask a stupid question, I don't beleive any people on the street died other than the ones directly around the buildings that collapsed. I think though if you would got to one of the memorial sites they would have an answer that has been  documented. You know with the war and the toll it is taking on our troops and the emotional toll of their families the actual event that started it all has kind of gotten pushed back and forgotten. What a sad thing.
