99 mercury cougar stereo

i have a 99 cougar stereo that i just got and i disconnected the battery and now theres a lock on the stereo how do i get the code or remove it

If you are the "true" owner on record you can try doing this...

Remove the radio and get the serial number from it and called your local dealer and they should help you or call the vehicles manufacturers customer service department and they will help you.

If you are lucky try looking in the glove box all over and the original radio code decal might still be there.

Update...........I just reread the question and if the radio was not the orginal one then you might have to pay for this.(FYI).
